Project Name: The Downtown Improvement Project

Location: Montpelier, VT

Number of Trees: 36

American Forest is pairing with Vermont’s capital city, Montpelier, and its tree board to enhance the city’s urban canopy. This project will plant trees in key downtown locations, provide trees for landowners interested in planting along the streets and educate the public on the importance of urban trees. The trees planted in Montpelier will serve as an example for other regions in Vermont that could also benefit from an increased canopy. This project is planting 36 trees to replace declining trees in downtown areas, as well as give the opportunity for community volunteers to apply for free trees to plant along the streetscape. This planting will highlight and educate the public on the important roles that urban trees have in a city’s well-being.
