Seneca Creek State Park #1

Year Planted: 2000

Trees Planted: 32,000
Location: Maryland

This site in Seneca Creek State Park had been previously used for cattle grazing over the past several decades. Planting 32,000 trees will restore forest wetlands, provide terrestrial habitat benefits and expand riparian forest along a stream. Also, planting trees will improve aquatic habitat values and contribute to the development of a terrestrial wildlife corridor up from the Potomac River. This project is part of a consolidation of previously farmed lands into large contiguous blocks of forest land managed by the Maryland DNR Forest and Park Service. This project was also made possible through assistance from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
