Planting 83,700 lodgepole pine and Engelmann spruce will help protect wildlife habitat and restore areas surrounding known prehistoric sites in adjacent meadows. Reforestation supported by American Forests also will affect areas overlooking the burn that have been used in traditional Native American vision quests continuously since prehistoric times.
