This project will halt and reverse desertification of the areas surrounding the city of Ica in Peru’s southern coastal belt through a program of reforestation, public education and community engagement. It will actively involve local people, especially children. The forests contain Huarango and other trees that provide an array of food, forage and other products, traditionally used by local people for thousands of years.
