These areas have been damaged by hurricane related winds, human traffic, insects and disease. Reforestation efforts are in keeping with Anastasia State Park’s Mission Statement. Planting a diversity of heights and densities of native trees will offer nesting and cover for various animals. Since plants alone can produce food, some animals life depends on these plants for their survival. The reclamation effort will be coordinated and overseen by an Anastasia State Park staff person and will include assistance from a Master Gardener, personnel from AmeriCorps, Friends of Anastasia and state park volunteers.
