With the help of American Forests, Plant Your Roots in Greece, planted 80,000 trees on Taygetos Mountain and Ancient Olympia. Mount Taygetos, a critical ecosystem in the region, was severely affected by the fires in 2007. Reforestation efforts in Ancient Olympia took place in the area where the Olympic Flame begins its journey to the Olympics every four years. Plant Your Roots in Greece works with local government units to provide this crucial aspect of the reforestation program.
