Patapsco River Valley State Park #2

Year Planted: 1999

Trees Planted: 11,818
Location: Maryland

The 19-acre project in Patapsco River Valley State Park is part of an effort to consolidate previously farmed lands into large contiguous blocks of forestland managed by the Maryland DNR Forest Service and the Maryland Park Service. This site was used previously to graze horses and cattle. The 11,818 hardwood seedlings planted will restore a forested nontidal wetland that is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed, provide terrestrial habitat benefits by expanding existing blocks of contiguous forest, restore riparian forest along 4,800 linear feet of streams and protect the head of a spring. Partners include the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Maryland DNR.
