For a long time, the people of Nkor exploited the submontane forest that protected their watershed; it was diminished to almost a barren state. The results were severe: water shortage, loss of traditional medicine sources, fuel wood shortage, and more. Having realized the harm they were causing to themselves their elected local council appealed to ANCO earlier this year to assist them in protecting their watershed. The project will plant 45,000 trees in the region, including many native trees.
