Because of the watersheds unique location, it is home each winter to over 272 neotropical migratory species of birds. Deforestation has occurred in this area due to sugar cane production and cattle ranching. These activities have a big impact on local land use and continually take over forest land. This project will help plant trees over five distinct ecosystems, promoting tree species diversity in the Papaloapan watershed.
