Manning Park- British Columbia

Year Planted: 1998

Trees Planted: 51,220
Location: Canada

In April 1998 the Canadian Forestry Association planted 50,000 conifers in Manning Provincial Park, located in southwestern British Columbia. Manning Park was established in 1941 and covers 66,000 hectares. The park is unique in that it represents the transition from a wet coast ecosystem to a dry interior ecosystem and consists of a wide variety of vegetation, from coastal growth to dryland stands of pine. This project will assist in replacing an aging forest that had been damaged by Mountain Pine Beetle, Root-rot and strong winds. Benefits of this project will include wildlife enhancement, gravel pit reclamation, noise reduction and greater privacy for camp sites, erosion control on slops and embankments and beautification. Eddie Bauer was a sponsor of this project.
