The St. John’s River Water Management District acquired the Kratzer tract, bordering State Road 415 and Reed Ellis Road along the St. Johns River in the Lake Monroe Conservation Area, Volusia County. The property was purchased to conserve water resources, create a wildlife corridor, and provide recreational values. 70,000 longleaf pine tubelings were planted on 100 acres of pasture, helping to restore the once dominant natural ecosystem of the area.
