Kula Forest Area Reserve

Location: Hawaii

This Tri-Isle (Molokai, Maui and Lanai) Resource Conservation and Development Council sponsored project planted 4,000 locally propagated seedlings on 300 acres of open areas formerly forested on the state-owned Kula Forest Reserve. The goal is to replace native trees that have been damaged by feral goats and pigs. The three species of trees to planted are endangered or threatened on Maui. Partners in this venture will be the Department of Land and Natural Resources – Division of Forestry and Wildlife Services and volunteer organizations including the Boy and Girl Scouts.
