Bridging the Gap (BTG) is a Kansas City-based program that seeks to pair various conservation and restoration projects with community education efforts. American Forests is partnering with BTG and its Heartland Tree Alliance project to create and advocate for a healthy community forest in the Greater Kansas City region. This project will plant 2,000 trees in both riparian and urban settings, incorporate volunteers in the efforts and include educational components for community members. The trees planted will play a major role in erosion control, the protection and conservation of water supplies and preventing floods.
