As part of the Katrina ReLeaf Fund, in 2006 American Forests donated 260 trees for Habitat for Humanity homes in Houston, Texas. Four trees per house were provided for 65 homes. Trees were donated from the American Forest Historic Tree Nursery in Jacksonville, Florida. The trees were funded by viewer contributions generated by Oprah’s mention of American Forests during an October, 2005 show. The project featured a partnership between American Forests and Trees for Houston and Oprah’s Angel Network.
