This project is converting highly erodible farmland to high-density hardwood forest to protect and enhance ongoing efforts to reforest the critical river’s edge ecosystem along the Lower Wisconsin Riverway in southwestern Wisconsin. The river is an area of high public use, where canoeists and anglers can enjoy the scenic beauty of the valley and therefore is important to keep beautiful. It is also the longest stretch of undamned river in the Midwest. It supports 95 native fish species, 20% of which are state endangered or threatened.
