The area was mined in the early 1980s and reclaimed to grasses. This project will restore the area to its former forest ecosystem, thereby providing diverse wildlife habitat and reinforcing the riparian buffer zone on the Cross Creek watershed. In the second year of the project 72,000 trees were planted on 100 acres.
