The 7-acre site for current reforestation was degraded by the application of dredge spoil in the last 10 or 20 years. The dredge spoil field represents a major fragment in an otherwise continuous forest corridor along the Broadkill River. This project will serve to restore the forest corridor and provide habitat for migratory passerines, raptors and other species which depend on forest habitat. In addition, reforestation will improve the buffer for the river which serves as spawning grounds for anadromous fish and habitat for rare species.
