Year Planted: 1998

Trees Planted: 15,000
Location: Wisconsin

The Glacierland Resource Conservation and Development Council and the Oneida Nation planted 15,000 trees, mainly hardwoods, on 20 acres of the Oneida Indian Reservation. Historically the area has been used as farmland or pastureland, but the Oneida Nation desired to return a portion of the reservation back to the pre-European status, which was forestland. Many benefits will accrue from this planting, including water quality enhancement, restoration of original vegetation, educational for local citizens, aesthetics, wildlife habitat restoration by creating a large continuous forest corridor and enhanced recreational opportunities for the community.
