In 2002 and 2003 Community Commons continued to educate the public about environmental concerns through a Global ReLeaf grant. One aspect of this was a lectures and workshop series tittled Building a Greener Future for Frederick County. This series included 6 lectures, one workshop and one evening forum and was intended to inform and educate the public about green building and conservation design. Secondly, Community Commons worked on publishing an Environmental Story on Frederick County, Maryland’s Monocacy River and Catoctin Creek Watershed to help residents develop a place-based attachment to the region. It is hoped that this publication will help residents to become environmentally responsible.
