The land is Alaska Native Corporation timber lan… Read More Year Planted: 2007 The Cape Chiniak Reforestation Effort is a 2,600 acre project to restore timber lands that were harvested in the mid-90s. The land is Alaska Native Corporation timber lands and has had practically no natural regeneration. 50,000 sitka spruce seedlings were planted in 2007. This is a five year project with 500 acres being planted every year. An NRCS EQIP contract will help to fund the project along with American Forests’ contribution.
