American Forests is continuing their work with the U.S. Forest Service to restore areas within Clearwater National Forest that were damaged by the Boundary Junction Fire that burned approximately 5,100 acres in 2007. To compound the situation, many areas in the forest have been plagued by blister rust, a fungal disease that kills five-needle pine species. To help ensure successful restoration, this project is planting 30,000 blister rust-resistant western white pines and western larches.
