American Forests and the National Wild Turkey Federation are working in southern Illinois’ Shawnee National Forest to promote native oak regeneration in the Big Muddy River bottomlands. The 7,692 native oak species this project will be planting include pin, swamp white, overcup and cherrybark. The variety will be planted across 3,400 acres of the Oakwood Bottoms Greentree Reservoir.
