Angora Fire II

Year Planted: 2010
Trees Planted: 90,500
Location: California

This project is going to plant 1-0 container stock to re-establish forest cover in areas that burned at high intensity during the Angora fire of 2007. In 2009, 220 acres were planted in areas closest to the urban area affected by the fire. In 2010, this project hopes to continue to aid the recovery of the Lake Tahoe basin by planting in the interior areas where the fire occurred. The re-establishment of this forest is of great concern to the public, who were directly affected by this fire. It will improve the landscape’s visual quality, and lead to eventual improvement of wildlife habitat for species that were displaced from this fire, like the spotted owl and goshawk.
