  1. Get a cut tree from a sustainable tree farm, be sure to recycle it after the holiday is over. Better yet, consider using a live tree this year! For information on how to handle a living Christmas tree,

  2. Decorate your tree and home with LED lights. These bulbs are far more energy efficient, so not only are they more eco-friendly, they’ll also give your wallet a much needed break when the holiday electricity bill arrives.

  3. Don’t want to think about the miles you could cover with the wrapping paper you used last year? This holiday season be sure to buy wrapping paper made from recycled materials. Or, think outside the box and use materials that are already lying around the house. Newspaper (the comics section, especially) or pieces of cloth leftover from a project make perfect alternatives to traditional wrapping paper. If you are still using paper bags from the grocery store, you can create your own custom-design wrapping paper. Simply use the plain side of the bag and decorate as you like!
